Domaine Michel Delorme - Santenay

| |

The creation of our vineyard:

Created in the early 1800s, the domain has been handed down from father to son for 6 generations.
Our vineyard was invaded by Phylloxera towards the end of the 1800s and a large part of the vines was destroyed.
The vines were replanted gradually up until the Second World War.

From 1939 to 1945:

After the death of her husband in 1916, Alice DELORME had continued the vineyard work alone until 1944. Her son, Paul DELORME, took over when he came back from the war.
At that moment, most of the vines had to be replanted because of war damage. Some of those parcels are still in production today.

From 1945 to 1979:

Only son and fatherless, Paul DELORME worked with his mother from childhood and quite naturally took over from her. He had 3 sons: Pierre (the eldest, who died very young), Guy and Michel, the youngest, whom he trained in the work of the vine. Michel DELORME became a partner with his father in 1972.

From 1979 until 2006:

Michel DELORME took over the domain completely in 1979 and he married Christine the same year.
For more than 25 years, they worked together and developed the domain by increasing the surface area of vines and diversifying the range of wines.
They set about developing regular customers by proposing affordable prices and set up an interesting special offer each year for Christmas and New Year.

In 1996, to be able to welcome customers in a nice setting, they repaired the old chapel Saint François dating from 1681 and turned it into a beautiful wine tasting room.

From 2006 to the present:
Since the sudden death of Michel DELORME, in November 2006, his wife Christine manages the domain.
With the help of 3 employees, she continues today to work where she has always worked and where she wishes to keep alive the Domaine Michel DELORME, with its 11 hectares of vines, spread over ten appellations and four grape varieties.
